You Mocha Me Happy Card

Hello and Happy National Coffee Day! It's been a busy day at my house but I was determined to make another card for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. The kitty stamp and sentiment on this card are by Your Next Stamp. It was one I put on my wish list during the Spring Coffee Hop. To add a pattern to the coffee cup I paper pieced the image. The kitty was stamped onto Crumb Cake cardstock and then colored with Copic markers. Here is a quick list of supplies:
  • Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango and Soft Suede cardstock along with leaves patterned paper from the Woodland Forest paper pad by Pebbles and plaid paper retired from Stampin' Up!
  • Stamps: Coffee Break stamp set by Your Next Stamp.
  • Inks & Coloring: Memento black and Copic markers.
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Frame die cut by Taylored Expressions, Acorn & Leaves die cuts by Sugar Pea Designs, three sequins and dimensionals.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Coffee Making me Awesome Card

This COFFEE is making me AWESOME!!! In some ways this sentiment defines me, I'm like the little mouse until the coffee kicks in. Another thought...Wheaties may be the breakfast of champions but I bet if you follow it with a few cups of coffee... you would be unstoppable.

There is still a couple of days left to join the fun with the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. This is my second card for the hop and I used the challenge colours at ColourQ to make this card. The colours include: Early Espresso, Kraft, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise and White. The image is called Colby's Caffeine by Whipper Snapper Designs, Inc. It was stamped onto several pieces of paper and paper pieced together. Warm Gray Copic markers were used to colour the mouse. The sentiment is also by Whipper Snapper Designs, Inc and was stamped with Memento black ink. Due to the large size of the image I kept the layout simple and added three brown sequins for sparkle. That's it!

Brentwood Trick or Coffee Card

Hello! Today is the start of the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and one of their super sponsors is Jessica Lynn Original. Jessica has provided a freebie image for the hop called Pumpkin Spice Latte Happy Halloween Brentwood. You definitely want to download your image now... while it's free.

If given the choice between a trick or coffee... I would choose coffee every time! So, I decided to alter a Trick or Treat sentiment from the latest Halloween Brentwood stamp set to say Trick or Coffee. To create this Brentwood Trick or Coffee Card I printed the digital image and colored it with Copic markers. Using an Avery Elle die cut the image and Bermuda Bay* scalloped mat were cut with the Big Shot. The card base is Crumb Cake* with a layer of Chocolate Chip* and Fall Perfectly Plaid patterned paper by Lawn Fawn. A strip of orange scrap paper was adhered in the middle and some twine added for detail. The matted image was adhered with dimensional and the altered sentiment was added. * Denotes cardstock colors from Stampin' Up! That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Framed Autumn Greetings Card

Hooray the first day of Autumn has arrived!!! This is my favorite time of year and although cooler weather isn't arriving until late this weekend, I'm happy Autumn is here. To celebrate the day I made this Framed Autumn Greetings Card for the following challenges:
This Framed Autumn Greetings Card was fun and easy to make. I liked stamping multiples of the leaves to make a leaf wreath to accent the scalloped frame. The leaves are from the Vintage Leaves stamp set by Stampin' Up! and the colors include: Hello Honey, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie. The Soft Suede scalloped frame was cut using the Frame in Frame cutting plate by Taylored Expressions and the Autumn Greetings sentiment is from Inkadinkado. For a little sparkle five sequins in matching colors were used and that's it!

Sunflowers Hello Fall Card

This time of year in Oklahoma you can see sunflowers in the fields as you're driving by. I think they are happy flowers and I've always wanted to plant some in my backyard, but alas I never have. Maybe next year!

The image on this Sunflowers Hello Fall Card is by Bugaboo Digi Stamps and it's called Autumn Owl. Copic markers were used to color the image and then it was die cut with a circle stitched die by My Favorite Things. The sunflower patterned paper is from the new Flea Market paper pad by Doodlebug Designs and the brown dot is from Bo Bunny's Enchanted Harvest collection. A scrap piece of striped Pumpkin Pie paper was added for additional color. Since I added a pop of blue on the flower vase I decided to add some denim blue twine from The Twinery. The Hello Fall sentiment is from the retired For All Things stamp set by Stampin' Up! and three pumpkin colored sequins were added for sparkle. That's it!

Purple Brentwood Halloween Card

Happy Sunday! Yesterday was the launch of a new stamp set at Jessica Lynn Original called Trick or Treat in the Pumpkin Patch and the design team had a lot of fun creating inspiration for the launch. I was inspired by several creations with Brentwood in different colors. So, I decided to "dress" Brentwood in a purple feather Halloween costume. I'm so used to coloring him in gray or brown tones it was nice to break the routine and try something different.

To make this Purple Brentwood Halloween Card I used the sketch at Sketch Saturday. All patterned papers are from Doodlebug Designs and the image was colored with Copic markers. The smaller front pumpkin was stamped twice, fussy-cut and adhered with dimensionals. To add a little more "spook" the spider and web from the Newton's Perfect Pumpkin stamp set by Newton's Nook was stamped in the corner. The sentiment was added along with two glimmer dot stickers by Jolee's and that was it. Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Butterfly Card

Hello! This week when I saw the color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary it was obvious I had to play along. The design team inspiration is outstanding and the colors immediately intrigued me. Create with Connie and Mary is a Stampin' Up! only challenge, so all supplies on this Fall Butterfly Card are from Stampin' Up!. Everything except the patterned paper (retired Venetian Romance) is current and include: Watercolor Wings stamp set, Love & Affection stamp set (sentiment), Flourish Thinlits, gold sequins, Soft Suede & Delightful Dijon ink, Emerald Envy, Delightful Dijon and Very Vanilla cardstock.

To create this card I knew I wanted to make a Fall Butterfly using Delightful Dijon and Soft Suede. The biggest issue was the card layout. After searching through a few sketches, I decided to use one of my previous layouts in a new way, click here for previous card. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Trick or Treat Cats Card

Good day and welcome to another sneak peek of the new Trick or Treat in the Pumpkin Patch stamp set by Jessica Lynn Original. If you follow my blog then you might know I adore cats. When I saw the preview for the new stamp set I was thrilled to see a cat was included.

To create this Tick or Treat Cats Card I used my favorite Halloween colors: Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry. Some silver texture paste by Heidi Swapp was added to the patterned paper with the Dot Fade stencil by Tim Holtz. The polka dot cats were fussy-cut and the outside edge of each cat was darkened with a black marker to give them a crisper look. Using the marker also helps to hide any small cutting mistakes. A scalloped frame die cut by Taylored Expressions was used with Pumpkin Pie cardstock and some twine was wrapped around the bottom. The sentiment was punched with a circle punch and matted to a slightly larger gray circle. That's it!

The Trick or Treat in the Pumpkin Patch stamp set will go live at Jessica Lynn Original on Saturday, September 17th at 8:00 a.m. CST. Supplies are limited, so make sure to get yours! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Sketch Challenge at Tuesday Throwdown

Happy Tuesday! This week at Tuesday Throwdown instead of a theme challenge we have a sketch for you to follow that I created. I've always enjoyed sketch challenges, they are a great way to start the creative process. Our sponsor this week is Lacy Sunshine and my card features the Lizabeth Wild Daisies image. The design team created some wonderful inspiration using the sketch and we would love for you to play along. You have until mid-day on Monday, Sept. 19th to link your creation. Click here for all the challenge details and design team inspiration. I hope to see your creation in the gallery.

To me, starting with a sketch helps to simplify some of the choices when making a card. I knew what size the image needed to be and the arrangement of layers. All I had to do was pick patterned paper, cut, layer, stamp and color. Pretty easy! The papers for this card are by American Crafts and the Especially for You sentiment is from Crafter's Companion. Three small heart sequins were added to the pink punched hearts to add some sparkle and the image was colored with Copic markers. That pretty much sums it up. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Newton's Hello Fall Card

Happy Saturday! We are expecting a cooler day today thanks to a small cool front and rain that moved through overnight. The rain was really needed and will keep the hubby from having to spend the weekend watering outside. Which in turn will keep me from hearing his complaints about having to water, it's definitely a win for me!

Since Fall is my favorite time of year, I've decided to send out Fall cards to family and a few friends. Usually I create five different designs and make duplicates of each to have enough cards. This Newton's Hello Fall Card was made using an image from the Newton's Nook Hello Fall stamp set exclusive to Simon Says Stamp from last year. The image was colored with Copic markers and the patterned papers are from the Amy Tangerine Ready Set Go paper pad by American Crafts. The leaves border punch is from Fiskars and I added some twine and sequins for detail. That's it!

Happy Fall Card

Hello! Each day we are inching closer to Fall/Autumn and that makes me very happy. We are expecting a small cool front to come in for the weekend and I'm eager for the ninety degree weather to go away. This afternoon I took a break from sewing and made this Happy Fall Card. The stamp set by Newton's Nook was and exclusive to Simon Says Stamp last year and is one of my favorites for Fall. All patterned paper is from the new Pebbles Woodland Forest paper pad. The image was colored with Copic markers and the layout is from the current sketch at Paper Play Sketches. I really enjoyed making this card, so I may make a couple more just like it to send to family and friends. Thanks for stopping by my blog today and I hope you come back again soon.

Embossed Circles Card

In my craft room the heat gun is not getting the love it used to, so I decided to break out the embossing powder and turn that heat gun on high. All the supplies on this card are retired by Stampin' Up!. It's easy to forget about the older supplies but every once in awhile I try to bring out my favorites. For this Embossed Circles Card the Lacy & Lovely stamp set was used for the circles and the sentiment is from Fabulous Four. Since my sewing machine was close by I added stitching around the edge using brown thread. The colors on this card are Tempting Turquoise and Early Espresso. For the finishing touch a large button was stitched on using Whisper White twine and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Copper Embossed Leaf Card

This time of year I'm ready for Fall to arrive! The colors on my craft desk turn to comforting warm hues and I anxiously await the cooler weather to arrive. Fall/Autumn is still a few weeks away but it's officially arrived in my craft room.

For this card I started by playing around with a Very Vanilla piece of cardstock and sponging on ink colors: Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon and Pumpkin Pie. Then I used VersaMark ink with a leaf stamp from the Vintage Leaves stamp set and heat embossed with copper embossing powder. The coordinating Leaflets Framelit Dies were used with the Big Shot to cut the leaf shape. Next a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock was embossed using the Brick Wall embossing folder. The edges of the embossed panel and the patterned paper from the Serene Scenery paper stack was inked with Antique Linen distress ink by Tim Holtz. Some ink was added to the bricks and the Many Thanks sentiment from the retired Another Thank You stamp set was stamped directly onto the panel with Soft Suede ink . The panel was matted to a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and one edge was die cut using a stitched scalloped die by My Favorite Things. The panel was then adhered to the patterned paper and then matted to a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock. Before adhering the layers to the card base, some linen thread was wrapped around three times and secured to the back with tape. Then everything was adhered to the card base. The final touch was adding three brown sequins and that's it! Unless noted the supplies are by Stampin' Up!.

Best Birds Birthday Card

Happy Saturday! With nothing on the agenda for the weekend, the hubby and I are taking it easy today. My one goal was to make a card using primary colors for challenges at SU-Only and Color Throwdown. Last night I searched through the current Stampin' Up! catalog to find some inspiration and decided I would use the Best Birds for the challenge. The design is from a card I cased on page 52 of the Stampin' Up! catalog. All images and sentiment came from the Best Birds stamp set and I used the coordinating Birds & Blooms Thinlit Dies. Watercolor paper was used for the images and background. After heat embossing the background with clear embossing powder I used Aqua Painters and the Dapper Denim ink pad for color. The bird was watercolored with three shades of yellow: Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry and Delightful Dijon. Real Red was used for the flowers, Wild Wasabi for the leaves and Crumb Cake for the branch. To anchor the focal area a 1.25" of Dapper Denim cardstock was embossed with the Petal Burst embossing folder and Craft ink applied for highlights. That's pretty much it!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!
