Nurse Bunny Thanks Card

Last October I started having trouble with my gallbladder. It seems I had developed gallstones and occasionally they would get lodged in the bile duct and it was really painful. After trying natural remedies with no success in eliminating the gallstones the choice was surgery. I'm not a fan of surgery but the pain was unbearable, so last week I had an outpatient surgery to remove my gallbladder. My follow-up appointment is today and I'm dropping this Nurse Bunny Thanks Card off at the nurse's desk at the hospital. They may not remember me but I figure the gesture will be appreciated.

To create this card I used the current sketch from Stella Says Sketch #410 at the Catch The Bug Challenge. The image is called Nurse Bunny by Bugaboo Digi Stamps and it was colored with Copic markers. Using a stitched circle die by My Favorite Things the image was die cut and then matted to  a scalloped  circle die cut by Spellbinders. All patterned paper is from the Cedar Lane collection by Pink Paislee. The Thanks sentiment, twine and sequins are all from Stampin' Up! and that sums it up. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

My blog candy giveaway includes a 6 x 6 paper pad called Little Azalea by Darice and Maraschino twine from The Twinery. To win you will need to follow my blog and leave me a comment. The winner will be drawn at random and announced next Tuesday, July 5th.

To create my card I started by selecting a coloured image called Snowdrop Daisy from Dis Digi Stamps. The image was die cut using a stitched square die by Lil' Inkers. Then I selected my papers to coordinate. The Thinking of You sentiment stamp is from the Wetlands stamp set by Stampin' Up! and was punched using an oval and matted to a Pool Party scalloped oval. Three sequins were the final touch and this card was done. I'm entering my card at Make My Monday Challenge to use Fairies. Now...

It's time to hop!

Birthday Blog Hop for Asha

Hello, and welcome to weekly challenge at Tuesday Throwdown and our SURPRISE Birthday Blog Hop for the lovely Asha! We are collaborating with the MHKDesigns blog this week for a fun blog hop for Asha's birthday. Our theme this week at Tuesday Throwdown is "Distressing."  You will notice my card is on the mild side of distressed.  I roughed up the edges and did a little inking but that's about it. There are many crafters who make  beautiful distressed creations but for some reason I have a hard time messing up that paper. We hope you will join us this week and play along in our challenge. You have until mid-day on Monday, June 27th to link your creation.

Now onto the blog hop, you should have arrived here from the blog of Shawna Standish.  If not, start at the MHKDesigns blog to complete the hop and for more chances to WIN!  We are celebrating a very special lady today, and we're doing so by creating beachy birthday cards to wish her many happy returns!

My Birthday Card is more tropical than beachy. The digital Butterfly Wisdom set is from MHKDesigns. I printed the set onto Very Vanilla and Mint Macaroon cardstock and fussy-cut the one butterfly to add a pop of color into the butterfly collage. All other supplies are by Stampin' Up!

Thank you so much for joining in our hop to say "Happy Birthday" to a dear friend!  Your next stop on the hop is Bridget Collins blog!

Chevron Cup Coffee Card

There are already over 180 card entries at the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and it's only day 2. This Chevron Cup Coffee Card is my second entry. I've used a stamp set by Your Next Stamp called Coffee Break. It was one of the stamps sets I found during the last hop that made my list. The layout is from Tuesday Morning Sketches #356 and all patterned paper are from the Sunshowers collection by Heidi Grace Designs. Instead of coloring the image I decided to paper piece it to add the chevron to the cup. The image was stamped three times, once on the white backround cardstock, second onto the chevron paper and third onto Crumb Cake cardstock. I did use Copic markers to color the nose and ear. The polka dot area was stamped using the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and Lost Lagoon ink by Stampin' Up! Three rhinestone flower stickers by Jolee's were added for the final touch. That's it!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Brentwood Owl Coffee Card for Blog Hop

Hello! Today is the start of the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and if you've never joined in... it's a lot of fun! It's a great place to find new products plus there are numerous sponsors with great giveaways. My card features a new Brentwood Owl digital image by Jessica Lynn Original and for a limited time you can download it for free (click here). So, download the image now and play along with the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

To create my card, the image was die cut using a stitched square die by Lil' Inkers and then I colored it with Copic markers. Trying to keep the colors in some summer hues, I used Bermuda Bay cardstock and plaid paper by Lawn Fawn. A strip of green paper was stamped using the Timeless Textures stamp set by Stampin' Up! and adhered to the plaid paper. Some Bermuda Bay twine was added along with three sequins. I'm also entering this card into the Alphabet Challenge to use "H" for Hand Colored Image.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see your creation in the blog hop.

Father's Day Card with Bicycle

It's been a crazy humid day here in Oklahoma, which made for a good excuse to stay indoors My niece is visiting for a couple of days and she requested to use my supplies to make her dad a Father's Day Card. He likes to ride bicycles and rides in competitions, so it only made sense to make a card using a bike. However, this required a trip to the craft store because the only bike stamps in my stash are girly. We didn't have much luck at the store in the stamp department and luckily found some 3-D stickers that worked perfectly. She used watercolor paper and watercolored the background to look like a sky and road. The road was stamped using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set by Stampin' Up! and Staz On black ink. Two small die cut clouds were cut using an Impression Obsession die. The Father's Day sentiment is by Hero Arts and the stickers were added. It turned out great!

My niece Hailey, who is twelve, would like to enter her card into the following challenges:

Ladybug on Flowers Flannel Baby Blanket

If you ask me the saying "cute as a bug" has to be referring to ladybugs. I think they are super cute and when I found this flannel fabric with ladybugs sitting on flowers, I knew I had to make a blanket and a few burp cloths. The finished size of this ladybug blanket is 38" x 35" and it's listed in my Etsy shop. You can also find the matching burp cloths listed here.

A lot of my sewing projects are custom orders for family and friends but I also enjoy just picking fabric because I like it and making it into something. I prefer natural fabrics and love working with flannel and soft comfy fabrics. If you want something custom made feel free to contact me with your request through Etsy.

Kitty with Cupcakes Birthday Card

Hello! It's been a nice lazy Sunday at my house today. The hubby decided to take a nap, so I seized the alone time and made this Kitty with Cupcakes Birthday Card. I've used some of my favorite summer colors which include: light blue, lime green and coral pink. The layout is from this weeks challenge at Sketch Saturday. I used a new digital image from Di's Digi Stamps. It's called Cat and Mouse Cupcake Tower and it came pre-colored which saved some time. The background patterned paper is by Bella BLVD from the Family Frenzy collection and the sentiment by TPC Studios was stamped directly onto the paper using Memento black ink. For the side flares I used plaid paper by Lawn Fawn. Some lime green twine was added along with three sequins and this card was done.

Falling Flowers Card

It's always fun playing with new supplies*! The hardest part is deciding what to play with first. After looking at all my options I selected the Serene Scenery paper pad, Falling Flowers stamp set and coordinating May Flower Framelits. Before I assembled my card I decided to stamp the focal area using the Timeless Textures stamp set and added the sentiment from the Watercolor Wishes stamp set. The colors include: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Island Indigo.

*All supplies are by Stampin' Up!

The layout for this card was inspired by the CAS(E) this Sketch #176. I did move the sentiment but the other elements stayed the same. It's been a while since I've made a floral card and I really like several of the new flower themed stamp sets in the new catalog. The sentiment on this Falling Flowers Card is one of my favorites and can be used for many situations. Well, that's pretty much it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Card for Feline Veterinarian

Last week we had to take our oldest kitty to the vet because she was limping. The vet did x-rays and thankfully nothing was broken, however she has arthritis in her front legs and one joint that has too much space. Unfortunately the joint issue my cause chronic pain. We have altered our house to minimize her jumping opportunities but there is no way to eliminate it completely. She is doing better this week and I bought her a new comfy bed for the floor. Although she has yet to lay on her new bed I'm sure eventually she'll give it a try.

To show our appreciation for our feline veterinarian I made this card using Newton's Sick Day stamp set. Newton's Inky Paws Challenge #32 is to use an arrow. As luck would have it I recently purchased some patterned paper by Pink Paislee that has arrows, yeah! Then I die cut two small arrows and positioned them on either side of the focal area. The layout is from Try Stampin' On Tuesday and it worked well with the image and sentiment. I'm also entering this card into the Show Us Your Pussies Challenge #7. Thank for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Colorful Thank You Card

Hello! Today I was in the mood to make something bright and cheerful. Recently I received some colorful Bo Bunny paper from the Believe collection in a card kit and I thought it would make a fun Thank You card. The layout is from Mojo Monday, sketch #451. There is plenty of space to let the paper take center stage. The Watercolor Thank You stamp by Stampin' Up! was used and I heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I used the pink portion of the paper that had been trimmed for the banner detail and stamped it with polka dots using Melon Mambo ink. Three larger sequins were used for some sparkle and that's it! A pretty simple but colorful thank you card.

Country #1 Dad Card

Happy Tuesday! Today is the start of a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown and our theme is "Man's World." This is a great time to make Father's Day cards or a manly birthday card. We are sponsored this week by Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and I've used the Jake in the Country image on this Country #1 Dad Card. We would love for you to join in the fun and play along with our challenge. You can find all the challenge details and marvelous manly inspiration from the design team right here on the challenge blog. Make sure to link your creation by mid-day on Monday, June 13th. Can't wait to see what you create!

It took me some time to find the right patterned papers for this card! I knew I wanted to use the straw paper from The Paper Studio and the bandana paper by GCD Studios, but finding the third pattern was a struggle. Finally, I found the yellow plaid by Authentique and decided it would work. The image was colored with Copic markers and die cut using a Lil' Inkers stitched rectangle die. I matted the image with Brick cardstock by Bazzill and cut another piece to mat to the plaid paper after using a zig zag edgelit for a little detail. The #1 Dad ribbon stamp is by Hero Arts and was stamped onto Hello Honey cardstock and fussy-cut. Three red sequins were added for some sparkle and that was it. The finished size of this card is 5.25" square. Thanks for stopping by!

You are in My Thoughts Card

Hello! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend. The sun is nice and bright this morning and the birds are chirping. It looks like it's going to be a lovely day. Before my day gets busy I wanted to share this You are in My Thoughts Card. It was made for the following challenges:
The Color Throwdown challenge is to use Kraft, Green and Cream. It's a really calming color scheme and I thought it was perfect for a Thinking of You type card. It seems I can never have enough of these, they work well for many life situations. For this card I used the layout at Sketch Saturday and the keyword "Birds" from Just Us Girls. The green patterned paper is one of my favorites by October Afternoon and it was paired with a woodgrain pattern by Crate Paper. For the image I searched through all my options and found a bird from the Moon Lake stamp set by Stampin' Up! that I had never used. It was stamped using Timber Brown Staz On ink and colored with a blender pen and ink pads. The You are in My Thought sentiment is from Impression Obsession. To add a little more detail I used a scalloped stitched die by My Favorite Things and some linen thread by Stampin' Up! That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Simple #1 Dad Card

Happy Friday! Father's Day will be here in a couple of weeks on June 19, 2016. I've made a Simple #1 Dad Card using this weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. This card uses minimal supplies and would be easy to duplicate. All you need is: Very Vanilla cardstock for card base, coordinating solid cardstock to mat layers, patterned paper (Adventure by My Mind's Eye), #1 Dad ribbon (free digital image, click here), red marker, scissors, silver glimmer paper, a star punch and adhesive.

The ribbon was printed onto patterned paper and onto Very Vanilla cardstock, then fussy-cut with scissors. If you're not into printing the image onto patterned paper, just simply use cardstock and color the ribbon to match your color choices. Don't have a star punch, use sequins or enamel dots instead. Click here for the sketch used and have fun making your dad a handmade card. He will love it!

Sweet Hedgehog Birthday Card

Today we welcome the month of June and the launch of the new Stampin' Up! catatlog!!! Have you found your new favorite product yet? There are lots of wonderful new items to choose from! Click here to check out the new catalog.

To make this Sweet Hedgehog Birthday Card I've used the new Affectionately Yours dsp and the sweet hedgehogs from the hostess stamp set called Love You Lots and they were colored using Copic markers. The layout is from Paper Play Sketches and I combined it with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at The Paper Players. I used the top row across for Yellow, Twine and Birthday. The yellow panel was embossed using the decorative dots embossing folder. For a little more detail I added a butterfly charm and three yellow sequins. The green really overpowers the yellow but hopefully there is enough yellow on this card for the challenge. I'm also entering this card in the Ooh La La Creations challenge for Critters with 4 Legs.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!
