Pilgrim Girl Thanksgiving Card

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a fabulous day filled with food and family. May you enjoy the calm before the shopping frenzy that ensues on Black Friday. I find it very sad that the majority of stores are opening at 8 pm tonight. I always make a pledge not to support the corporations who take holiday time away from their employees. As long as people go shopping they will keep opening earlier and earlier. The only thing I can do is refuse to spend my money during the time people should have off with their families.  I'm thankful my job allows me to have the whole day off.

I was in the mood to make one more Thanksgiving card, so I made this Pilgrim Girl Thanksgiving Card. I used the Bobblehead Thanksgiving Pilgrim Girl image by Bugaboo and colored it with my Copic markers. The layout for this card comes from the sketch at the Digi Sketch Challenge. I really love the balance to this layout. The papers are a mix from DCWV and Stampin' Up! and I added some Doodlebug Design Doodle Twine. Well, I better get some sleep. Thanks for stopping by and have a great night and pleasant tomorrow!

Indigo Bird Card

Today was cloudy and windy here in Oklahoma. There is a cold front moving in that will drop our temperatures for the next week.  It's fine by me! The cooler weather makes it feel more like the holidays. Plus it's always a good excuse to spend more time in my craft room!

This afternoon I decided to play along with the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge and I made this Indigo Bird Card. I had a hard time deciding what to use for my focal point and the little bird from the Polka Dot Pieces stamp set was the winner by elimination. The patterned paper is from last years Orchard Harvest dsp by Stampin' Up! The only thing I changed on the sketch is I flipped the three embellishments to the opposite top side. The patterned paper at the bottom of the card was too busy and the dots really didn't show up. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful night and pleasant tomorrow!

Truly Grateful Card with Leaves

Sometimes I think coming up with the blog post title is harder than actually creating a handmade card. This title is simply descriptive, Truly Grateful Card with Leaves. To create this card I used a couple of my favorite things, which include the Stampin' Up! Woodgrain embossing folder and the Gently Falling stamp set. I embossed the Early Espresso sandable cardstock with the woodgrain folder and attached it to a kraft card base. The accent colors are Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Very Vanilla cardstock with the Burlap ribbon detail. I used the rock-n-roll technique to stamp the leaves and then fussy-cut them and adhered them directly to the Very Vanilla cardstock. It took a little time to fray all the edges of the burlap ribbon and then I zig zag stitched it at the top to the card.  The last piece was the Truly Grateful sentiment which I punched with an oval punch and layered it with the scallop oval punch and adhered with dimensionals. Even though this card is casual in it's design, I hope you feel it's warm with texture and color. Well, until next time, thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Give Thanks Faux Patina Card

This evening I used the Pumpkin Photo as color inspiration for this Give Thanks Faux Patina Card. I embossed a Whisper White piece of cardstock with the Beautifully Baroque embossing folder by Stampin' Up!. Before embossing I inked the embossing folder with Crumb Cake to give the background a little color. Then I sponged on the following colors:
  • Cajun Craze
  • Marina Mist
  • Perfect Plum
  • Pumpkin Pie
The final step was heat embossing the gold to give it the Faux Patina look. Here is a link to a tutorial if you like step by step instructions. The sentiment strip was made with white cardstock and then I sponged on a light layer of Crumb Cake ink before I heat embossed the sentiment in gold. The final touch was two antique brads and I used dimensionals between the Cajun Craze and Perfect Plum layers behind the sentiment. I'm really happy with the way this card turned out and it's definitely prettier in person. The photo doesn't show the detail of the gold. Well, it's getting late and I have a long day tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and have a terrific night and pleasant tomorrow.

Gold Thanks Card

The holidays will be here before we know it and then I will need a few holiday thank you cards. So, today I took the opportunity and made this Gold Thanks Card using the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. To play along with the Shopping Our Stash challenge I needed to use supplies on my desk. As luck would have it, I had my gold embossing powder and some scrap patterned paper that coordinated nicely together. I heat embossed the sentiment by Close to my Heart using the gold embossing powder on Very Vanilla cardstock. Using an ivory glitter cardstock I punched two small stars with a Creative Memories punch and the larger star was cut with my Cricut machine. The final result is a pretty simple gold monochrome card. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for Your Support Card

Well, another weekend bites the dust! It was beautiful here in Oklahoma, the temperature was perfect and the skies were clear. This evening when the sun went down I made my way into my craft room to make this Thanks for Your Support Card. The Paper Players have a color challenge this week to use Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip, and Tangerine Tango. The Sweater Weather dsp was the perfect paper choice for this challenge and I used the For the Birds stamp set for the image both by Stampin' Up!. I used a Spellbinders scalloped oval die and yellow doodle twine. The birds were colored using a blender pen and classic stampin' pads in Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango. I used the Houndstooth embossing folder by Stampin' Up! and the final touch was three Chocolate Chip Candy Dots. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

Birdie Thankful Card

This evening I searched through my digital stamps and found this Pumpkin Birdie image by Doodle Pantry. I love the rich colors in this pre-colored image. I printed the image and sentiment on Very Vanilla cardstock and then decided a woodgrain background would give it a nice rustic feel. To add texture to the card I added some burlap with a brown twine accent. The final touch were the punched leaves and this Birdie Thankful Card was done. Thanks for stopping by!

4 x 7 Thanksgiving Card

This afternoon I decided to shake things up and make a different sized card. It's been awhile since a made a 4 x 7 card, so that's what I did. This 4 x 7 Thanksgiving Card is a casual design. I used the Truly Grateful stamp set by Stampin' Up! and a scallop die by Spellbinders. The twine is from American Crafts and I added a few Candy Dots by Stampin' Up! The colours are full of Autumn tones using Soft Suede, Natural, Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze and a small amount of Daffodil Delight ink for the wheat. I decided to stamp the inside of the card with the sentiment instead of the front, just to be different. One of my favorite things about 4 x 7 cards is I always have envelopes for this size. Well, that's about it. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

Thanksgiving Card with Deer

When making cards for my family I try to use images and colors I know they will like. This Thanksgiving Card with Deer was made with my cousin and his family in mind. He is an avid deer hunter and good ol' country boy. I tried to keep this card as manly as possible. All supplies for this card are from Stampin' Up! The image is from the retired Noble Deer stamp set and I heat embossed it using Early Espresso emboss powder. I used a blender pen and stampin' pads to color in the image. The paper and ink colors used are Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky and Whisper White. The patterned paper is from the Sweater Weather dsp and I used the woodgrain embossing folder and burlap ribbon to add texture to the card. My big regret is adding stitching to the side of the card. I should have just stitched across the top of the burlap and quit. Oh, well... I'll try not to obsess about it. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful night and pleasant tomorrow.

Thoughts of You Card

**For the Gone Batty Challenge please click here or scroll down.** Thanks!

Good morning! This last week was really busy for me and I had no time to even step foot in my craft room. So last night I did some late night crafting and created this Thoughts of You Card. It was nice to start the weekend off with some creative therapy. There were several challenges that inspired this card and one sad goodbye to Cath Edvalson who is leaving Moxie Fab World and Paper Crafts Magazine. There is a Cards for Cath link up going on right now in honor of her last day. I'll really miss the Tuesday Triggers and daily inspiration that Cath has provided over the years and she will definitely be missed. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
